The Argentina national football team specifically refers to Argentina's men's senior team, managed by the Argentine Football Association (AFA).

Team History
Argentina won their first South American Championship title in 1921 and claimed three more championships within the following decade. In 1978, Argentina won the World Cup for the first time on home soil. In 1986, led by Diego Maradona, Argentina secured the title again. At the 2010 World Cup, with Maradona as head coach, Argentina was defeated by Germany once more, failing to reach the championship. In the 2015 Copa América Chile and 2016 Copa América USA, Argentina lost to Chile in penalty shootouts in the final for two consecutive years, missing out on the title. On July 31, 2019, the AFA announced that Lionel Scaloni would officially take over as head coach of the Argentina men's team, with a contract until 2022. On July 11, 2021, Argentina defeated Brazil 1-0 in the Copa América final, winning a major tournament for the first time since 1993. On December 18, 2022, in the Qatar World Cup final, Argentina drew 3-3 with France after regular time and extra time, and won 7-5 on penalties to claim the championship.

Current Situation
On July 15, 2024, in the Copa América final, Lautaro Martínez scored the only goal of the game, helping Argentina beat Colombia 1-0 in extra time to secure a hat-trick of major tournament victories.
