Gary Neville has been photographed allegedly using a mobile phone while driving. Bystanders captured Neville at the wheel of his 2024 Bentley Bentayga S V8 Auto V8—worth £170,000 and with a top speed of 180mph—and he may now face a penalty of 6 points on his driving license.
The 50-year-old Sky Sports pundit was seen holding the steering wheel with one hand and a mobile phone with the other before driving away.
This is not the first time the former England right-back has been photographed allegedly doing so. It is claimed that Neville was previously spotted texting while driving into Manchester United’s Carrington Training Ground. In 2017, he faced criticism for allegedly holding a phone while driving. A year earlier, he was said to have been seen using a phone while driving his £100,000 BMW i8.
The new footage, filmed on August 29 but only recently exposed, shows Neville en route to Salford City Football Club’s match against Cheltenham Town. Neville is one of the co-owners of the EFL League Two club, which he leads alongside former teammate David Beckham.
Under UK government rules, using a handheld device while driving—or even when stopped at red lights—is illegal. According to NeedToKnow, drivers who break this rule can face a £200 fine and 6 penalty points on their license.
Some fans joked about the incident:
“Oh wow, 6 points, Gary. Ask if you can transfer them to Man Utd.”
- “That’s 6 more points than Man Utd have.”
- After six Premier League games this season, Manchester United have earned 7 points from 2 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses, placing them 14th in the league table. They are already 8 points behind league leaders Liverpool and 6 points adrift of second-placed the Arsenal.
