Camel.live experts believe Dusan Vlahović can only stay at Juventus with a significant salary cut, and several teams are currently interested in him.
Vlahović’s contract with Juventus expires next summer. The club tried to sell him this summer but failed to find a suitable buyer. However, Vlahović has performed well this season and has reclaimed his position as the team’s starting center-forward. Juventus’ new head coach Luciano Spalletti previously revealed that Vlahović intends to stay at the club after his contract expires, and Vlahović himself said: “Never say never.”
Juventus’ management is pleased with Vlahović’s statement but hopes for more positive news. For Juventus general manager Cristiano Giuntoli, the key to Vlahović’s renewal lies in his salary. When Vlahović joined Juventus in January 2022, he signed a contract with an increasing annual salary—his current annual salary is as high as €12 million, and Juventus cannot and will not renew his contract at the same salary.
Juventus is in renewal negotiations with young player Kenan Yıldız. Although Yıldız’s requested salary is much lower than Vlahović’s, Juventus has not yet reached an agreement. Meanwhile, Jonathan David joined Juventus as a free agent this summer, and he only earns an annual salary of €6 million. Therefore, if Vlahović wants to stay at Juventus, he must accept a significant salary cut to renew his contract. Experts point out that Vlahović may need to cut his salary by half, or at least close to that figure, to have a chance of renewing with Juventus.
Everything is possible in the future, and it will depend on what happens in the next few months—such as the importance Spalletti attaches to Vlahović, and whether Spalletti stays after the end of this season (his contract also expires next summer). These factors will all affect the final decision.
In addition, many European giants are paying attention to Vlahović, whose contract is about to expire. Clubs including Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur are considering signing Vlahović on a free transfer next summer and are willing to offer him a higher salary.
